The danger of a good day.
Daily Article Notes
Relevant notes from my daily set of Noom articles.
- Noom proposes a number of different eating styles.
- Fuel eating: eating for energizing the body. Whole grains, fruits, lean proteins.
- Fun eating: eating for pleasure. Home cooked meals, indulgent desserts.
- Fog eating: When you don't realize what you're doing, eating mindlessly. Like when you are just picking away at popcorn when at a movie and not really enjoying it.
- Storm eating: When you feel like you can't stop eating, even when not hungry.
- Ideally, I'd like to mostly combine fuel and fun eating, leaning towards fuel. But I know that storm eating defines so many of my problematic moments. Just getting a huge amount of junk food and feeling like I can't stop.
- In response, the article suggests what I thought, which is a good sign that my head's in the right place:
- Try mixing fuel and fun eating; storm eating will naturally decrease.
- Be wary of labeling food as "good or bad." Seeing it that way leads to black-and-white thinking, not moderation.

General Notes
Really good day! It's funny, but really good days where I don't struggle to eat healthily and meet my health goals can still be harbingers of dangerous moments. Yesterday's articles helped me understand why.
One of the "thought distortions" the article noted was "justification." It's easy for me to have a good day and say "Well, because that was a good day, I can AFFORD to eat terribly." But that's the wrong way to think about it. The amount of junky food I can eat is allotted each day.
Keep the big picture goals I came up with in the front of my mind.
Sketching today's meals
